Welcome

My website is one of the ways in which I hope to keep in touch with constituents throughout the East Midlands.  I hope you will find it useful.

If I can help you with a European problem, or if you want to contact me about policy or for information, please do get in touch.

Introducing Glenis Willmott

Glenis is the Labour Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands.  She accepted the seat in February 2006, following the sudden death of her predecessor Phillip Whitehead.

"I have spent my working life trying to make a difference to peoples’ lives.  As a Member of the European Parliament I have a chance to carry on that work in a practical way.

I will work for the things that matter to my constituents – jobs, health, a competitive economy, a cleaner environment, rights at work - where the EU can make a real difference."

What does your MEP do?

Just as you elect local councillors to look after your local community and your Westminster MP to represent you nationally, you elect MEPs to represent you in Europe.  The European Parliament is the only directly elected international parliament in the world.

EU citizens are free to study, work and live anywhere in the European Union.  These freedoms are not automatic.  They have been introduced by laws made at European level.
